Operating temperature ranges for heatshrink tubing: -200°C to +260°C

Heatshrink tubing, heat shrink sleeving, or heatshrink sleeving as some call it (also known as heatshrink, "heat shrink" or just plain "heat shrink tubing"), a tubing or sleeving with a built in thermal-memory that shrinks in diameter when the correct heat is applied and should stay within set heatshrink specification tolerances longitudinally - horizontally when the correct temperature is applied to the heat shrink tubing/sleeving. As the heatshrink diameter shrinks, the wall thickness does the complete opposite and starts to increase in value which is how it should perform.

Bear in mind that when cutting heatshrink into cut lengths, that the cut as to be clean and straight, otherwise the heatshrink tubing might split resulting in waste.
Polyolefin and Zero Halogen heatshrink tubing begins shrinking at +90°C, the same temperature applies to adhesive lined dual wall polyolefin heatshrink tubing, however, PVdF Kynar, Viton & Elastomer heatshrink tubing starts shrinking at +175°C, with PTFE heat shrink tubing will only commence recovery shrinking at temperatures greater than +327°C (+621°F). Service temperature of PTFE (EMS74 and/or HST-R1) heat shrink tubing is -200°C
Some day, all standard polyolefin "heatshrink tubing" users will be using "zero-halogen" heat shrink tubing, this will result in a better environment and save us humans from toxins.
By employing the correct thermal settings on your heatgun, burning of the jacket heatshrink tube or sleeve is removed. Some heavy wall broadband adhesive lined, heatshrink tubings, have a thermal printing applied, when the desired heat setting is reached the printing changes colour informing the desired setting thus preventing jacket-burn.
